The City of Mostar – Bosnia

There was I Standing right there in Mostar ! after a two hours drive from Sarajevo ( Bosnia )  !!! rw3a ? la eshwaya 3leeha 9ra7aah !! I’ve been to many places around the world , Mostar was something different … I got attached to that place ! Mashallah the beauty ! el hedou l qatil !!! leana kan winter season the place was so quiete !! 3aks el summer ! in Summer I was told that this place is crowded with tourists 🙂 but that city had something …I felt the history of that place… I felt how one day that place was destroyed during the war between  1992 – 1993 and how that place got all its charm back mashallah  !  … Let me take you on a tour in Mostar’s Old town perhaps you can feel what I felt when I was there 🙂

I have posted about the Road Trip to Mostar before . The beautiful city has its historical monuments  . During The war of Bosnia ,Between 1992 and 1993  the town of Mostar was subject to an 18 month siege!! The Old Bridge which is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks was destroyed during that war and was rebuilt later 🙂  The small and clear Neretva river flows from South to North and separates the town into Eastern and Western Mostar ( amazing calm river). The town  was probably founded around the 15th century and developed into a thriving regional centre within the Ottoman empire . ( the emipre that amazed me when and made me visit Turkey twice and its still not enough )

As you can see certainly it was not the season to visit Mostar! yet few little shops and restaurants were open 🙂  I had the chance to wander at Mostar’s Old town athough it was so cold ” freezing ” with strong winds …but after all it was a great walk 🙂

Did you know that Mostar is  a UNESCO World Heritage Site !!!! which means that its listed by the UNESCO as of special cultural or physical significance !

Yes it will not be forgotten ! I saw A video on how this historical old bridge was destroyed in 1993 during the war . Beautiful 3la kithr ma aqolha ma etwafi elmokan 7aqah Mashallah ! but there was something surprising 😛 well it looked like some people were waitting for smeone to jump of the river o eljaw kan mooooot barrrddddd !

Later , my driver explained that some guys  collect money out on the bridge from tourist and then  jump into the water below !  its been going since the old time !

Craft and souvenir shops with lots more to see and buy ! collective pieces from The war and the ottman empire like helmets, medals, pins ,to weapons, all in the open streets of Mostar !
Traditional Coffee sets exactly like the once I bought from Turkey 🙂 yeah you will find many things similar to what can be found at the Grand Bazzar of Istanbul Turkey

If you love collecting unique vintage goodies then Mostar is a must !

That shop had many nice stuff to buy ! I bought alot and the owner was so kind to give me a little gift, a small magnet of Mostar 😀

a beautiful Smile from the owner and her Mama to all my readers 🙂

Interesting to stay in such a building !! like living in ancient time !

those three cats got my attention ! that I started to talk to them 😛 hey guys is there something wrong 😛 or its too cold to move and talk 😛 lol …kilhum metafqeen 3la el 7arakah 😛

unfortunately because of the cold weather, I couldn’t stay until the night ! They say the Old bridge of Mostar will look amazing with some light system at night ! next time I’m staying in Mostar for a night 🙂 I have checked on the web and they have nice hotels to stay at !

One of the restaurants 🙂

I was lucky to Find an amazing Book Store !! where I bought my guide book about Sarajevo !! the book store was full of cultural books !!! and the things that I got excited about that they had this screen with a short video on Mostar during the war ! so I saw how that bridge was hit ! shay y3awer elqulb 🙁

The war on Bosnia to be remembered 🙁

Do I need to say more ? I don’t think so ….just list the city on your must visit list 🙂
